Enemalta awarded Nexans a €178 million turnkey contract to design, manufacture, install and protect the 220 kV high‑voltage AC submarine power link between Malta and Sicily, selecting Nexans as the cable supplier for the Malta–Sicily interconnector. The contract covers a 100 km subsea cable, with at least 200 MW transfer capability in either direction, plus associated underground cable sections to connect Qalet Marku in Malta to Marina di Ragusa and on to the Ragusa substation in Italy, providing Malta’s first power interconnection with mainland Europe.
