Offshore installation of the Malta–Sicily interconnector’s subsea power cable began in December 2013, when Nexans’ specialised cable-laying vessel C/S Nexans Skagerrak started laying the approximately 98 km subsea circuit between Qalet Marku in Malta and Marina di Ragusa in Sicily for Enemalta’s 220 kV, 200 MW HVAC link.
