Description
CESI S.p.A. formed a joint venture with Techfem S.p.A. to deliver the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for Malta–Italy Interconnector 2 (IC2). Appointed by Interconnect Malta in 2022, the JV is responsible for development-phase engineering of the 122 km, 220 kV HVAC interconnector between Magħtab and Ragusa, including definition of the technical concept and preliminary design for the 99 km submarine cable section, landfall approaches and integration with the Magħtab terminal station and Ragusa 220 kV substation. CESI’s scope covers system studies, electrical design criteria and cable system specifications that underpin subsequent procurement and construction of the subsea link.
