At an ESB strategy and conference presentation dated 18 May 2023, the Malin Sea Wind project concept was set out as a 96MW pre-commercial floating offshore wind farm comprising six 16MW turbines on floating platforms, exporting power to Northern Ireland. The concept highlights two main innovations for the project: a Load Reduction Device-based mooring system developed with Dublin Offshore and the use of Malin Sea Wind’s renewable output to supply e-fuel production led by CATAGEN.
