Onshore construction for the Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm began in October 2013 with the start of onshore cable works. Tunnelling and directional drilling for the onshore export cable route were carried out by Visser & Smit Hanab for Eneco subsidiary Joulz, including nine horizontal drillings—one over a kilometre long under the dunes to the beach—to install PE conduits for the 150 kV cables between Noordwijk beach and the TenneT substation in Sassenheim.
