Export cable installation for London Array began towards the end of 2011, when the first of four high-voltage export cables was installed between the offshore substations and the onshore substation at Cleve Hill. The specialist cable-lay barge Stemat Spirit buried the subsea cables in seabed trenches, each more than 50 km long, with the cables also incorporating fibre optic elements for turbine communications.
