Siemens Transmission and Distribution Limited was awarded a €128 million contract by the London Array consortium to supply and install electrical equipment for the project’s offshore and onshore substations, which underpin the London Array OFTO transmission system. For each of the two offshore platforms Siemens provided and installed two 180 MVA transformers along with associated switchgear and control systems. At the Cleve Hill onshore substation Siemens supplied four 180 MVA power transformers and four reactive‑power compensators, plus related high‑voltage equipment. Siemens also undertook installation and testing of this equipment prior to transport and commissioning, enabling reliable transformation from the wind farm’s 33 kV arrays to 150 kV offshore and 400 kV for connection into National Grid’s transmission network.
