Design, manufacture and supply of four 150-kV XLPE export subsea cables, each about 53–54 km long, transmitting power from the offshore substations to the Cleve Hill onshore grid connection for London Array.
Nexans Norway SA was awarded a contract by the London Array consortium to design, manufacture and supply the high-voltage export cable system for the London Array offshore wind project, which later formed the core transmission asset of the London Array OFTO. The scope covered four 150 kV cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) three-core subsea export cables, each approximately 53–54 km in length, including integrated fibre-optic elements and associated accessories such as terminations and repair joints. The cables connect the two offshore substations to the onshore grid connection point at Cleve Hill, Kent. Two cables were scheduled for delivery in 2011 and two in 2012. The reported contract value was about €100 million, covering the construction-phase design and manufacturing of the export transmission cables.
