Iemants Staalconstructies, a Belgian steel constructor, was a member of the Future Energy joint venture appointed to design, build and install the two offshore substations that form the offshore transmission hubs for London Array, later transferred into the London Array OFTO. Within the Future Energy scope, Iemants focused on detailed structural design and fabrication of the steel topsides for the three‑level platforms, which were assembled onshore and then installed offshore using heavy‑lift vessels. These substations collect 33 kV power from the wind farm, transform it to 150 kV and send it into the export cable system to the Cleve Hill onshore grid connection.
