On 21 December 2009, London Array Ltd awarded a subsea cable installation contract to Global Marine Systems Limited, alongside Visser & Smit Marine Contracting, for the London Array project. The scope covered offshore installation of the 150 kV export cables supplied by Nexans between the offshore substations and the Cleve Hill onshore grid connection, as well as the inter‑array cables, making Global Marine responsible for laying and protecting the export cable system that now serves the London Array transmission connection.
