Offshore construction for the Llŷr 1 Floating Offshore Wind Farm is planned to commence in the first quarter of 2027, according to the project’s Environmental Statement (ES) and associated chapters prepared for Llŷr Floating Wind Ltd. The Non‑Technical Summary explicitly states that offshore construction activities are planned to start in Q1 2027, in parallel with onshore construction, as part of the project’s overall development timescales.[1] Chapter 28 of Volume 3, addressing impacts on other sea users, reiterates that offshore construction is planned to begin in Q1 2027 and indicates that these activities will lead through to full commissioning around Q4 2028.[2] This offshore campaign will cover installation of the floating wind platforms, moorings, subsea cables and other offshore infrastructure located approximately 35 km off the Pembrokeshire coast in the Celtic Sea.[1][2] The project is being advanced by Llŷr Floating Wind Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Floventis Energy joint venture between Cierco Ltd and SBM Offshore Ltd.[1][2] Llŷr 1 is described as a test and demonstration floating wind farm of up to ten turbines, exporting power to the National Grid via a landfall at Freshwater West and a grid connection near Pembroke Power Station.[1][2] An earlier developer announcement in January 2024 had indicated that construction was expected to begin in late 2026, subject to securing Section 36 consent and a Marine Licence, but the later ES documents refine this to an offshore construction start in Q1 2027.[3] This shift reflects the more detailed scheduling that accompanies the formal Environmental Impact Assessment and consent applications.
