In mid-April 2025, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) announced that it had acquired 100% of Transmission Investment, the sole developer of the LirIC interconnector. Following the acquisition, Transmission Investment became part of TAQA Transmission, which is responsible for developing and operating TAQA’s high-voltage transmission infrastructure. The existing management, including Chris Veal as head of Transmission Investment, remained in place to continue leading the development of projects such as LirIC.
