LionLink 525 kV bipole HVDC hybrid interconnector cable system between the Dutch offshore grid (Nederwiek 3 area) and the GB grid in Suffolk, comprising subsea and underground sections.
National Grid awarded the Hellenic Cables and Jan De Nul consortium a place on its HVDC cable supply framework, which covers both confirmed and anticipated projects including the LionLink hybrid interconnector between Great Britain and the Netherlands. Under this multi‑project framework, the consortium is positioned to deliver design engineering, manufacture and offshore installation of high‑voltage direct current subsea cables for LionLink and similar 525 kV bipole schemes. The agreement supports LionLink’s development and construction phases by securing strategic access to specialist HVDC cable and installation capacity needed for the 2 GW, 525 kV bipole link. Specific LionLink call‑off contracts and cable lengths have not yet been disclosed.
