Description
National Grid appointed Balfour Beatty to its HVDC onshore cable civil works framework (Lot 2), which covers confirmed and anticipated projects including the LionLink NL–GB interconnector. Under this multi‑year framework, Balfour Beatty is one of three contractors eligible to deliver civil works for onshore HVDC cable sections, such as trenching, duct installation, joint bays, temporary haul roads and reinstatement. For LionLink, the framework is intended to support construction of the underground HVDC cable route between the Walberswick landfall, the onshore converter station near Saxmundham and the existing grid connection at Kiln Lane/Friston, once specific call‑off contracts are awarded.
