DELAYED +2yr (Apr 2026): Original projection assumed FID in early 2026. As of April 2026 National Grid and TenneT have only just signed a new Joint Development Agreement to progress LionLink "ahead of a final investment decision" and the DCO has not yet been submitted. With DCO submission now expected Q4 2026 and consent typically coming 15–18 months later, a 2026 FID is unrealistic; moving FID to around mid‑2028 allows consent to be in place and still fits the stated aim of operation in the early 2030s. --- Developers National Grid Ventures and TenneT state that the LionLink multi-purpose interconnector is expected to reach a final investment decision (FID) in 2026, following the current development and planning phase for the Anglo-Dutch HVDC link that will connect offshore wind in the North Sea to the UK and Dutch grids.
