Grid Application

As part of selecting a grid connection point for the Lincs offshore transmission assets and associated Round 2 wind farms, the developer applied to National Grid for grid connections in the Skegness area. Central Networks East subsequently indicated there was insufficient capacity in the local network and that accommodating the projects would require constructing a new 400 kV substation at Skegness with extensive new overhead lines, which was considered a limiting factor given the need for a connection before 2010, so this Skegness connection option was not pursued further.
