Before 2006, Vattenfall carried out environmental impact assessments and constraint analyses for Lillgrund, mapping sensitivities related to local flora and fauna, marine life, birds, noise, shipping and fishing activities, as well as proximity to the Öresund Bridge, a natural gas pipeline, and the Danish border, to ensure compliance with Swedish grid code and permitting requirements. This work fed into a permitting process that was completed by 2006 and enabled bidding and construction to proceed.
