Synaptec partnered with the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult to install its Refase distributed passive sensing technology at ORE Catapult’s 7MW Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine in Fife as a year-long trial. The system was intended to monitor cable performance using distributed passive sensors, with the aim of reducing the costs and outages associated with subsea cable failures and improving longer-term operations and maintenance through automated fault response and prognostics data.
