The Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine reached full operational status in early April 2014, marking its effective entry into commercial service. Prior to this, during the 2013/14 post‑construction and pre‑commissioning phase, the turbine had been installed and was occasionally operating, but it had not yet been formally commissioned as operational. The project documentation explicitly notes that the turbine “had not been commissioned as operational until early April 2014,” establishing this period as the transition from commissioning activities into sustained operational status. Following this commissioning milestone in April 2014, operational monitoring began in line with the requirements of the Project Environmental Monitoring Plan (PEMP). Year 1 (2014/15) and Year 2 (2015/16) of operation were subsequently monitored, with Year 3 surveys underway and due for completion in March 2017, demonstrating that the turbine was being treated as fully operational from April 2014 onward. A later scoping report prepared in April 2017 further confirms this status by stating that consent for the project had been granted in May 2013 and that “the turbine is now operational,” reinforcing that the April 2014 commissioning marked the start of its long‑term operational phase.
