For the 200 km² ELWIND research area designated off the Latvian Kurzeme coast, more than 20 environmental and technical studies—including bird and bat, seal, meteorological, geological, UXO and archaeological surveys—are planned to be completed by 2028 to determine the area’s suitability for an offshore wind park integrated with the fourth Estonia–Latvia interconnection.
