LanWin8 (formerly LanWin6) ±525 kV HVDC offshore grid connection export cable in NOR-13-2, bipole with 2 parallel cables, total route length about 428 km between offshore converter platform and onshore converter station at BBS.
50Hertz Transmission GmbH awarded NKT a major contract for the implementation of the 2 GW, 525 kV HVDC offshore grid connection in the NOR-13-2 area, referred to at the time as LanWin 6 and now designated LanWin 8. Under the wider 4.6 billion euro, 3,500 km cable-supply programme agreed on 29 September 2023, NKT is responsible for producing and installing the high‑voltage direct current cable system for this connection, covering both submarine and associated land cable sections. The scope includes engineering, manufacturing and laying of the 525 kV HVDC cables along the export route between the offshore converter platform in the German North Sea and the onshore grid connection point in Schleswig‑Holstein, with works scheduled to start from 2025 and complete in the mid‑2030s. This role represents a core construction‑phase package for LanWin 8’s export cable system within 50Hertz’s accelerated HVDC build‑out.
