On 29 September 2023, 50Hertz signed project and framework contracts with cable manufacturers NKT and Prysmian, under which NKT was formally awarded responsibility for implementing the 525 kV HVDC cable system for the LanWin6 offshore grid connection (NOR-13-2) in the German North Sea, alongside the onshore DC32 project. The multi-year framework, part of 50Hertz’s EUR 4.6 billion cable investment programme, includes a firm contract for LanWin6 covering approximately 900 km of core cables to connect 2 GW of offshore wind capacity to the onshore grid between Pöschendorf and Klein Rogahn, with engineering, production, and installation of the cable systems scheduled to start in 2025 and complete in the mid‑2030s.
