Petrofac was selected by TenneT under a multi-year framework agreement within TenneT’s 2 GW HVDC programme that included the German offshore grid connection LanWin5. Under the framework, Petrofac was to undertake the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the offshore HVDC converter station platforms and associated infrastructure, and to deliver elements of the onshore converter stations. In 2025, TenneT exercised its right to partially terminate Petrofac’s scope under the framework due to Petrofac’s inability to meet contractual obligations, affecting the portfolio of projects that included LanWin5.
