LS Cable & System, in consortium with Jan De Nul and Denys, awarded an EPCI contract by TenneT to design, manufacture and supply the 525 kV HVDC export cable system (offshore and onshore) for the LanWin5 grid connection to Rastede, including production, delivery and support to installation and testing.
Under TenneT’s 2 GW offshore grid programme, LS Cable & System, as part of a consortium with Jan De Nul and Denys, was awarded a multi-year EPCI-type contract to deliver the 525 kV HVDC cable system for the LanWin5 grid connection in Lower Saxony. The consortium’s scope for LanWin5 includes design, engineering, production, delivery, and onshore, offshore and nearshore installation, as well as jointing and testing of the cable system linking the offshore converter station in the German North Sea to the onshore converter station near Rastede. Within this consortium, LS Cable & System is responsible for engineering and manufacturing the subsea and land HVDC power cables, which consortium partners then install and protect. The award was announced in May 2023 as part of a wider EUR 5.5 billion framework covering ten 525 kV HVDC cable systems, with construction activities starting later in the 2020s to enable LanWin5’s planned commissioning by 2031. Lifecycle stage: construction.
