EPCI of 250 km of 525 kV HVDC XLPE onshore and offshore export cable systems for the LanWin2 offshore grid connection.
Nexans was awarded a project-specific contract by TenneT under their 525 kV HVDC frame agreement to deliver the export cable systems for the 2 GW LanWin2 offshore grid connection in the German North Sea. The EUR 1 billion EPCI contract covers engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of approximately 250 km of 525 kV HVDC XLPE onshore and offshore export cable systems linking the offshore converter platform to the onshore converter station in the Heide area of Schleswig-Holstein. Under this turnkey scope, Nexans will design and manufacture the high‑voltage submarine and land cables and execute their offshore, nearshore, and onshore installation, including associated civil works. The cable systems will form the main DC transmission link enabling LanWin2 to transport 2 GW of offshore wind power into the German transmission grid, with commissioning targeted for 2030.
