Krk–Cres 110 kV HVAC submarine cable between Mali Bok (Krk) and Merag (Cres), part of HOPS’ mainland–Krk–Cres–Lošinj 110 kV reinforcement.
Asso.subsea carried out the transportation and installation of new 110 kV submarine cables for HOPS’ island reinforcement program, under a contract associated with Končar. The scope covered four 110 kV cable systems totaling about 30 km, including the Krk–Cres link between Mali Bok on Krk and Merag on Cres. Asso.subsea’s work comprised offshore cable lay and on-bottom placement at depths up to about 70 m, as well as challenging onshore pull-in operations at all landfalls. These required preparatory civil works for the cable landfalls, including the use of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) pipes of approximately 120 m and 60 m at two sites, and the design and use of custom rollers to manage steep coastal slopes with gradients up to 40%. CLV Atalanti and onshore pull-in teams executed multiple consecutive landings as part of the overall replacement of ageing cables on the routes.
