The Kriegers Flak Combined Grid Solution (CGS) interconnector between Denmark and Germany secured capital support from the European Union’s European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR), after being recognised by the European Commission as a Project of Common Interest. The EU funding package, reported as DKK 1.1 billion (about $168 million), financially backs the hybrid offshore grid that links the Danish and German transmission systems via the Kriegers Flak and Baltic 2 offshore wind farm substations. This grant support underpins the project’s role in expanding cross‑border transmission capacity and facilitating an integrated European power market.
