HEDNO scheduled repair works on the medium‑voltage submarine cable of the Kos–Kalymnos interconnection to take place between Thursday 13 June 2024 and Sunday 23 June 2024, temporarily intervening on the existing AC link between the two Dodecanese islands to restore and maintain its condition.
In 2008, Asso.subsea commenced installation works for the 20 kV power interconnector between Kalymnos and Kos in Greece, performing cable laying, landings, and offshore protection over a route length of about 32 km with additional nearshore burial for project owner PPC and contractor Fulgor.
In 2008, Asso.subsea (project code K241) carried out laying, landing, and offshore protection of a 20 kV power cable between Kalymnos and Kos in Greece for owner PPC, with contractor Fulgor. The works involved installation of approximately 32,000 m of submarine cable and 5,200 m of cable burial at depths of 2.0 m and 0.5 m, marking completion of the interconnector’s cable installation scope.
According to the Greek network development annex, a submarine interconnection listed as "Κως - Κάλυμνος" with configuration "3 x 95 Cu 20" and lengths 15,200 and 30,400 is recorded with the year 2008, indicating that this inter-island cable link between Kos and Kalymnos has been in full operational service since 2008 as part of the distribution network (category ΔΠΝ).
