On 6 June 2025, Energinet Eltransmission A/S and Svenska kraftnät concluded a service contract with GEO.xyz BV for the Konti-Skan Connect cable route survey, covering the marine section of the planned subsea interconnector between the east coast of Jutland and the west coast of Sweden south of Gothenburg, routed north of Læsø. The negotiated procedure contract, valued at approximately EUR 5.78 million, tasks GEO.xyz with delivering geological, geophysical and geotechnical consultancy services for the marine cable route from landfall to landfall between the connection points at Vester Hassing in Denmark and Lindome in Sweden, ahead of the new link’s expected readiness for operation in 2035.
In ENTSO‑E’s TYNDP project consultation, project 1097 "Upgrade to Konti‑Skan"—described as an upgrade of the Denmark–Sweden Konti‑Skan interconnection adding 1,000 MW of transfer capacity between SE3 and DK1 to maintain reliable cross‑border flows and reduce price differentials—is included among the consulted transmission projects, corresponding to the planned Konti‑Skan Connect renewal of the existing HVDC link.

Konti–Skan, Kontiskan, KontiSkan
By 20 January 2025, Svenska kraftnät and Energinet had formally defined the Konti-Skan Connect project as the renewal of the ageing Konti-Skan 1 and 2 HVDC links between Lindome in southwest Sweden and Vester Hassing in Jutland, Denmark, with a new 1,000 MW HVDC interconnector. The project description sets out that the existing links are expected to reach end of technical life in the mid‑2030s, the new link will replace them to maintain reliable SE3–DK1 transmission, costs will be shared equally between the TSOs with Svenska kraftnät’s share provisionally estimated at SEK 6,500 million, and a preliminary timetable targets consultations, permitting, construction from 2030 and commissioning in 2036.
Svenska kraftnät states that, together with Energinet, it is renewing the existing Konti-Skan 1 and 2 HVDC links between Lindome in Sweden and Vester Hassing in Denmark with a new 1,000 MW HVDC interconnector, Konti-Skan Connect, which is presented as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) due to its role in maintaining reliable transmission and benefiting the wider Nordic electricity market by increasing cross‑border capacity between SE3 and DK1.
Energinet Eltransmission A/S and Svenska kraftnät issued a negotiated procurement procedure (SQS 239894, Cat. 3) for geological, geophysical and geotechnical cable route survey services for the Konti-Skan Connect subsea interconnector between Vester Hassing (DK1) and Lindome (SE3), routing north of the Danish island Læsø. The notice covers marine cable route survey works from landing site to landing site, with an estimated contract value of EUR 5.775 million excluding VAT, and is open to suppliers across the European Economic Area.
Svenska kraftnät and Danish TSO Energinet have established a joint development and investment arrangement for the Konti-Skan Connect project, a new 1,000 MW HVDC interconnector that will replace the ageing Konti-Skan 1 and 2 links between Lindome in southwest Sweden and Vester Hassing in Jutland, Denmark. The project description confirms that the two TSOs are co-developing the link and that investment costs will be shared equally between them, with Svenska kraftnät’s share provisionally estimated at SEK 6,500 million.
