Description
NKT carried out an offshore repair of the 285 kV Kontiskan 2 HVDC power cable system, which interconnects the Swedish and Danish grids between Lindome and Vester Hassing. Following a fault caused by external impact in January 2022, NKT performed fault location from shore, mobilised a repair spread with a third-party vessel, removed the damaged section, installed and jointed replacement cable, and reburied the line at a safer water depth to reduce future risk. The work was completed within 12 days of vessel mobilisation, allowing the Konti-Skan 2 interconnector to be re-energized and returned to full operational capacity.
