Newcon Data AB

In 2004 Energinet.dk selected Newcon Data AB to upgrade the alarm and monitoring interface for Konti-Skan 2 at the Vester Hassing converter station. Newcon supplied a special TESSELATOR emulator (TessEm 7000) and a protocol converter to translate approximately 1,000 digital and 80 analogue signals from the existing ABB Central Alarm System (CAS) for KS2 into the new AREVA SCADA system using IEC 60870-5-101. The scope included delivery and configuration of the TessEm 7000 PC system, implementation of the IEC protocol stack, creation of a database of all CAS dynamic points and process displays, and software modifications to the CAS CPUs to optimise the ADLP-10 communication, add data mirrors and new commands, and stream alarm and analogue data efficiently to SCADA. This work formed part of the broader refurbishment of the Danish–Swedish HVDC converter stations and enhanced operational control of Konti-Skan 2.
