Replacement of the oldest of the three Kontiskan HVDC submarine cables between Jutland and Læsø with a new 285 kV cable; JD-Contractor performed PLGR, survey, transport, installation and post-burial, plus recovery of the old oil-filled cable, on the Jutland–Læsø section of the Konti-Skan interconnector.
Energinet.dk contracted JD-Contractor A/S to replace the oldest of the three Konti-Skan HVDC submarine cables between Jutland and the island of Læsø. After approximately 48 years in service, the original oil-filled cable had reached end of life and was replaced by a new 285 kV HVDC subsea cable on the Stensnæs–Læsø section of the interconnector, which serves both Konti-Skan 1 and 2. JD-Contractor’s turnkey scope covered pre-lay grapnel run (PLGR), route survey, transport of the new cable, installation and post-burial by jetting, as well as recovery and later decommissioning of the old cable. This work formed part of the life-extension and reliability enhancement of the Konti-Skan 1 pole and the overall link.
