In 2004 Energinet.dk selected Newcon Data AB to supply a protocol converter solution as part of the refurbishment of the Danish‑Swedish Konti‑Skan HVDC interconnection converter stations. Newcon’s TessEm 7000‑based system replaces the old TESSELATOR 8000 display system and converts alarms and analogue/digital data from the existing ABB Central Alarm System for Konti‑Skan into IEC 60870‑5‑101 messages for a new Areva SCADA system, enabling enhanced monitoring and control of Konti‑Skan 1 and 2, including bipole operation (KS12), from the Vester Hassing and Tjele local control centres and higher‑level control centres in Denmark and Sweden.
