In 2014, Hitachi Energy received an order to upgrade the HVDC control and protection system (MACH) for the Kontek interconnection’s converter stations. The scope included supplying and installing the new MACH control and protection platform, operator workstations, training for operating personnel, and provision of spare parts, with the upgraded system scheduled to enter operation in 2016. This mid-life refurbishment formed part of the ongoing operations and maintenance of the Bjæverskov and Bentwisch HVDC converter stations, enhancing reliability and functionality of the Kontek link’s control systems.
