Boskalis Offshore Marine Services was contracted by Cobra Wind International Ltd. to carry out transport and installation works for the Kincardine floating wind farm offshore Aberdeen (15 km offshore, 6080 m water depth) during July 2020 to July 2021. Boskalis executed project management, engineering and offshore execution for the mooring system and floater deployment activities, including receipt/storage/assembly of mooring components, pre-lay of the mooring system, recovery/disconnection of the existing 2 MW floating wind turbine moorings, dry transport of floaters from Spain to Rotterdam, and wet-tow of fully assembled floating wind turbines to Aberdeen with hook-up of pre-laid mooring lines. The mooring system comprised drag embedment anchors, chains, clump weights and HMPE ropes, with Boskalis also managing and executing required survey works through its in-house survey department.
