Kentish Flats Extension 33 kV HVAC export cable system with two parallel cables over a 9.8 km route (7.8 km subsea, 2.0 km onshore) connecting the extension array in the Thames Estuary to landfall at Hampton Pier and onward to Red House Farm substation.
Bohlen & Doyen was contracted by Vattenfall to install the offshore array and export cables for the Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm Extension. Its scope covered subsea installation of the 33 kV inter-array cables linking the 15 turbines and the twin 33 kV export cables that run from the extension site in the outer Thames Estuary to landfall at Hampton Pier, west of Herne Bay. For the export system, Bohlen & Doyen laid, pulled in, buried and protected around 15.6 km of medium-voltage AC subsea cable corresponding to the two parallel export circuits along the approximately 7.8 km offshore route, delivering the subsea portion of the Kentish Flats Extension grid connection into the existing onshore corridor to Red House Farm substation.
