In May 2019, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) for Johan Sverdrup Phase 2, authorising the second‑stage field development which includes extending the power‑from‑shore system and establishing the Utsira High area electrification solution. This consent enabled Equinor and partners to proceed with construction of the Phase 2 processing platform and the associated HVDC shore‑power cables and distribution to nearby fields.
