Following the October 2018 letter of award, NKT signed the turnkey contract with Equinor to deliver the 80 kV HVDC offshore power cable system for Johan Sverdrup phase 2, comprising two long-distance subsea cables that will transmit electricity from the Norwegian onshore grid to the field. This contract underpins the increase in shore power capacity from 100 MW to 300 MW so that Johan Sverdrup phase 2 and the wider Utsira High fields can be fully electrified from shore.
