Equinor and the Johan Sverdrup partners issued a conditional letter of award to NKT for an EPCI contract to engineer, procure, fabricate, install and test two 200 km, ±80 kV HVDC power cables (200 MW capacity) supplying power from shore for Johan Sverdrup phase 2. The cables, to be fabricated at NKT’s Karlskrona plant and laid from Haugsneset near Kårstø to the field centre, will meet phase 2 power needs and enable shore power to other Utsira High fields, with a total contract value of just over NOK 1 billion (about EUR 110 million). The award was subject to final contract signing and Norwegian government approval of the phase 2 PDO.
