In early December 2020, HEP’s Split-based Elektrodalmacija team laid a new 3.5 km, 20 kV submarine power cable at depths of around 70 metres between the islands of Iž and Ugljan, replacing a 57‑year‑old cable to improve their electricity supply. The installation utilised a patented subsea jointing technique performed by a four-person team working under high-pressure conditions at 70–80 metres depth.

Contractor Podvodni radovi Bagatin reports carrying out onshore and coastal construction works on the Lukoran–Iž section, including construction of coastal protection for the 10(20) kV Lukoran Duboka–Iž submarine cable for client HEP Elektra Zadar, indicating that onshore civil and shoreline works for the Iz Island Cable connection have been undertaken.
