MON.ITA project for a new submarine power link between Montenegro and Italy; supply and installation of one of the two poles (about 415 km of submarine route) made of an extra high voltage direct current (500 kV DC) subsea cable system
Prysmian Group was awarded a contract by Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. for the MON.ITA project (Montenegro–Italy HVDC interconnector) to supply and install one of the two HVDC cable poles. The scope included an extra-high-voltage 500 kV DC subsea cable system over an approximately 415 km submarine route in the Adriatic, specialist civil works in both Italy and Montenegro, and supply and installation of marine electrodes to enable emergency operation. Marine cable laying was planned to be carried out using Prysmian’s cable-laying vessel Giulio Verne.
