Prysmian Group has started cable installation for the Elba–Piombino interconnector, the new 132 kV HVAC subsea power link between the island of Elba and the Italian mainland, using its cable‑laying vessel Leonardo da Vinci. The project involves laying approximately 34 km of submarine cable and 3 km of onshore cable and is expected to double Elba’s energy supply by providing a more secure and sustainable connection to the mainland grid.
