Supplier for Cyclades Interconnection Phase D : Santorini - Folegandros - Milos - Serifos
Cyclades Interconnection Phase D Folegandros–Thira 150 kV three-core XLPE HVAC submarine and underground power cable, approximately 59.9 km subsea and 2.479 km underground between Folegandros and Thira (Santorini), Greece, forming part of the Milos–Folegandros–Santorini link.
Prysmian Group was awarded an approximately €150 million turnkey contract by Greek transmission system operator IPTO to link the Cycladic islands of Milos, Folegandros and Santorini as part of Phase D of the Cyclades interconnection. The scope covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a 150 kV three-core XLPE HVAC cable system, including both submarine and underground sections. For the Folegandros–Thira (Santorini) segment, Prysmian is responsible for around 59.9 km of submarine cable and about 2.5 km of underground land cable at the island landfalls, along with all accessories, joints, terminations, testing and commissioning. Cables are produced at Prysmian’s qualified factories, with offshore installation performed by one of the Group’s dedicated cable-laying vessels. The new link reinforces the Greek transmission network to the southern Cyclades, enabling the replacement of local oil-fired generation with cleaner mainland power and supporting further RES deployment in the region.
