Inner Dowsing was awarded a Crown Estate seabed lease in April 2001 as one of 18 sites in the UK's Round 1 offshore wind leasing programme, which awarded development rights for near-shore sites with a combined potential capacity of up to 1.5 GW. The site, off the Lincolnshire coast, was developed alongside the adjacent Lynn project and acquired by Centrica from RES in December 2003.
