In conjunction with announcing financial close for the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, project owners ESB and Red Rock Renewables confirmed that Ningbo Orient Cable has been selected as the supplier of the project’s export cables. In the list of “Inch Cape key construction suppliers” released alongside the financial close communication, Ningbo Orient Cable is explicitly identified under the scope heading “Export cables,” indicating that a firm supply contract has been placed for these critical transmission assets. This selection is part of the wider contracting package that underpins more than £3.5 billion of project financing and enables the 1,080 MW project, located 15 km off the Angus coast, to move into its offshore construction phase. The supplier line-up presented in the same announcement shows Ningbo Orient Cable sitting alongside Siemens Energy and Iemants (Smulders) for electrical transmission infrastructure, Vestas for turbines, and a range of foundation, installation and cable installation contractors. By naming Ningbo Orient Cable in this definitive supplier list, the project company signals that commercial negotiations for the export cable scope have been successfully concluded and integrated into the overall project delivery plan. This contract award supports the planned start of offshore construction activities, beginning with export cable installation in Q2 2025, and forms a core element of the infrastructure that will ultimately transmit power from the offshore turbines to the onshore substation at Cockenzie, East Lothian.
