Inch Cape’s offshore export cable installation effectively commenced in summer 2025 with the installation of the project’s first export cable. Following preparatory works at the landfall site by civil engineering contractor Charles Brand, including installation of cable ducts and replacement of a 35‑metre section of seawall, the site was ready in time for the 2025 installation campaign. The first export cable arrived in the UK at the Port of Blyth in June 2025 and was subsequently installed offshore by Enshore Subsea in three sections over the summer and autumn of 2025. This sequence of activities marks the practical start of export cable installation for the wind farm, transitioning the project from preparatory works into live offshore electrical infrastructure construction. The installation of this first export cable sits within a wider construction programme that has seen both onshore and offshore works progressing in parallel. Onshore, activity at the Cockenzie brownfield site and landfall has been advancing since 2023, while offshore construction formally began in 2025. By completing the first export cable installation in staged sections through summer/autumn 2025, Inch Cape established the initial high‑voltage transmission link between the offshore site and the onshore grid connection works. This milestone underpins subsequent steps in the electrical system build‑out, including the arrival and installation of the second export cable and the commissioning activities that are the focus of the project’s 2026 work programme.
