Two 220 kV, three-core 2000 mm² HVAC export cables of approximately 85 km route length each between the Inch Cape offshore substation platform and Cockenzie landfall/substation.
Ningbo Orient Wires & Cables Co. Ltd (Orient Cable) manufactured the high-voltage export cable system for the Inch Cape offshore transmission assets. The scope covers two identical 220 kV, three-core copper HVAC subsea export cables, each around 85 km in route length, running from the single offshore substation platform to landfall at Cockenzie, East Lothian, for connection into the new onshore substation and the wider SPEN grid at Cockenzie. The 2000 mm² conductors make these among the largest AC export cables in the world, supporting the 1.1 GW Inch Cape wind farm and its future OFTO transfer.
