According to Enedis and Orange's May 2022 press dossier for the Île de Groix cable replacement project, the final phase of works involves laying the new hybrid submarine cable between Ploemeur (Lomener) and Groix. The key dates section states that the subsea cable lay ("Pose du câble en mer") took place from 2–7 May 2022. This indicates that offshore cable installation started on 2 May 2022.
Enedis began onshore construction works for the Île de Groix interconnector in mid-February 2022 by carrying out a 400 m horizontal directional drilling operation at Port Nâl on Groix. The six-week campaign, supported by a drilling rig and divers, prepared the landfall for the new hybrid subsea cable that will link Lomener (Ploemeur) on the mainland with Quelhuit/Quéhello on Groix.
Enedis, in partnership with Orange, selected Orange Marine, Orange’s submarine cable deployment subsidiary, to carry out the seabed preparation and offshore laying of a new 7.5 km submarine cable replacing the 40‑year‑old electrical and telecommunication link between Île de Groix and Ploemeur in Morbihan. The renewal works, directed by Enedis and Orange, had started by mid‑February 2022, enabling the island to benefit from upgraded electricity and fibre‑optic telecommunications infrastructure.
