Larsen & Toubro (L&T), teamed with Hitachi Energy, was selected by TenneT as the replacement EPCI contractor for the IJmuiden Ver Alpha 2 GW offshore grid connection following the partial termination of Petrofac's contract on 22 October 2025. L&T's scope covers engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of the 2 GW, 525 kV HVDC offshore converter platform and elements of the onshore converter station at Borssele, replacing the EPCI scope previously held by Petrofac under the March 2023 Hitachi Energy / Petrofac framework agreement. The contract spans six projects in TenneT's 2 GW programme; IJmuiden Ver Alpha is the first project. Hitachi Energy continues to supply the HVDC Light converter technology.
