Multibeam bathymetric survey and machine control to support trench backfill on IFA2 nearshore route (Lee-on-Solent).
NSS Near Shore Survey conducted a high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) bathymetric survey and machine-control (GPS dredge system) campaign to support trench backfill operations for the IFA2 interconnector near Lee-on-Solent. The work (Dec 2019–Jan 2020) used the vessel Ocean Echo with a Reson T50 to map the full extent of the seabed trench and surrounding side-cast material, ensure swath overlap for data accuracy, process and deliver seabed datasets, and upload processed data into dredge software to confirm compliance with the project marine licence. The survey directly supported cable installation backfill verification and as-built seabed modelling for the IFA2 cable route.
